Our home laboratory is in the DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY, which is part of the EBERLY COLLEGE OF SCIENCE, at THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY in University Park , PA. Many of the animals we work with in the Gulf of Mexico can be brought back to our laboratory and kept alive in special aquaria. We keep the mussels and tubeworms at normal surface pressure, which they don't seem to mind, but "feed" them with the dissolved gases their symbiotic bacteria use to make the food for the animals. We also bring back many frozen and preserved samples which we can study in between our deep-sea expeditions. To learn more about us and some of our other research projects in other oceans, visit THE FISHER LABORATORY home page. The work we do has been supported by a variety of grant agencies and others. Visit thier home pages for more information.
