Step By Step Experimental Set-Up

1. Get Maize Seeds

2. Take out 40-50 seeds, put in beaker and rinse well with water.

3. Imbibe seeds for 24 hour, have air bubbling through the water to keep them happy.

4. Place 2 wet paper towels on a glass plate and line the seeds up for germination.

5. Put 2 more wet paper towels on the seed, then sandwich with another glass plate. Put a rubber band around the glass plates.

6. Wrap plastic wrap around the whole thing to hold in the moisture and aid in holding it together.

7. Place in a basin of water in an area with good light where it won't get disturbed.

8. Be sure to water the seeds while they are germinating.

9. After about 48 hours, you will have nice germinated seeds.

10. Select straight roots about 2-3cm long to experiment with. Use modeling clay to hold seeds in place in the Petri dish. Put a paper towel in the dish to keep the seeds moist during the experiment.

11. Seal the dish with parafilm.

12. Conduct experiment!
