Join the Lab

I am no longer recruiting graduate students for Fall 2009, but exceptional candidates should contact me for potential future positions.  Please read my web page for a description of my research interests.  Student research will be expected to fall within the broad scope of these interests, but should be largely determined by the student.  I will, of course, provide advice and support, but I expect students to be motivated and independent.
If you are interested in joining my lab, please email me a brief statement outlining:

1. Your general research interests
2. Why you want to join the lab
3. Degree you'll be applying for at Penn State (MSc or PhD)
4. Where you see your career going after grad school
5. Relevant research experience
6. Your educational background

You will need to apply to either the
Biology or Ecology graduate programs at Penn State, depending on your research interests.  I am a faculty member of both.  Please address specific questions directly to the relevant program.  Pre-applications to these programs are encouraged.  It is best to put in your final application early (by December, or early January) so that you can take advantage of internal sources of support. Possible sources of funding and support include teaching assistantships, university and other scientific fellowships and grants.  Only teaching assistantships can be guaranteed.  Successful applicants will be invited to visit for a recruitment weekend in the spring semester (usually February).  Separate visits can also be arranged at any time.

Please let me know if you do decide to apply so that I can keep an eye out for your application.

Thanks and best wishes,

Tracy Langkilde
