ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
A group of 20 researchers (15 full time researchers,
4 research trainees and 1 visiting researcher) work at IMAZON.
One of the Institution's objectives is the formation of a new
generation of researchers in the Amazon. Each year one or two
recently graduated researchers are selected to participate in
IMAZON's training program. The more experienced researchers work
in close collaboration with the incoming researchers in order
to define a research problem, choose the methodology to be used
and provide guidance in the collection and analysis of data and
presentation of the final results. After finishing their research,
these incoming researchers are encouraged to participate in related
national or international graduate programs of study.
ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION
IMAZON's personnel can be divided in two groups:
Administration and Research Council. Our administrative unit is
composed of an executive director (Paulo Amaral) and a general-secretary
(Elson Vidal). The Research Council, formed by our more experienced
researchers, is responsible for defining the research programs
of the Institute.
